Born on November 23, 1956, in Kalamata, Greece, Yanni began playing piano at the age of 6. He went on to study psychology and music in Greece and later moved to the United States to pursue a career in music. In the late 1980s, Yanni's unique blend of classical, rock, and world music caught the attention of his then-manager, and he began performing with his band, "Yanni and the Nomads." The group's energetic live performances and Yanni's exceptional keyboard skills quickly gained them a loyal following.
