The open-source project Nova Launcher Legacy (a community fork) is gaining traction, but as of now, 7.0.58 remains the official stable branch.

The Nova community has been anxious. Following the Branch acquisition in 2022, development slowed to a crawl. Version 7.0.58 was released in late 2024, and as of 2026, there is no official timeline for Nova 8. The original developer, Kevin Barry, has left the project.
