The movie takes place in a mysterious underground facility called the Hive, which is actually a secret research facility owned by the Umbrella Corporation. A viral outbreak occurs, turning the subjects of the research into zombies and other monstrous creatures. The main characters, Alice (Milla Jovovich), a security expert suffering from amnesia, and Matt (Eric Mabius), a communications officer, find themselves trapped inside.
