The PSP’s official PS1 emulator (called "POPS") exists inside the firmware. When you convert a PS1 game, the conversion tool embeds this emulator into the final EBOOT. Without the correct psxonpsp660.bin , your PSP or PS Vita (in Adrenaline mode) will fail to launch the game.
Without this file, many PS1 games will refuse to boot, freeze at the “PS” logo, or crash during gameplay.
