Set in 1944 in the titular alpine village, the story centers on the Graziadei family, led by the stern local schoolmaster, Cesare ( Tommaso Ragno ). Their lives are disrupted by the arrival of ( Giuseppe De Domenico ), a Sicilian soldier and deserter who takes refuge with the family.
